Is it time to look for Google alternatives?

Over the past couple of years, I've had a couple of incidents with google that have started to make me wonder if it isn't time to look for alternatives to Google for search, cloud-based apps, and operating systems.

Any suggestions for cloud-based office suites, etc.?
