Yeah - I agree that he could have sent a short note. But not everyone has that kind of etiquette.

And yes - time will definitely tell.

Come on Foolhardy, you know even a kickarse laptop can't even nearly compete with a semi decent rig, small form factor is a bonus though, but I still enjoy looking at the peeps faces when I slam down my Aluminium Xaser II with it's pretty Blue neons and watch there jaws hit the ground.

I swear I could be running a 286 and everyone would think my rig was state of the art just because of the case ;)

I don't know W@RP@T}{ - this laptop is a pretty good rig. It could definitely replace many desktops I've seen - it's definitely a better machine than many desktops are for sure!

Hell - this laptop is a better machine than the machine I use at work - and it's new too. Just got it a month ago. And it's almost as kick @$$ as the one I use at home. I would say nearly an equal to it anyhow.

It's an Asus L3000S - check it out - Asus.

Pretty good for a laptop if you ask me. It should be coming in today so I'll be able to let you dudes know how it is in a few days.

I'm thinking it's going to ROCK! 8)

LOL! A 286 huh? Well I'm licking my wounds right now because I just got back from my school's new library and IT department and the machines they have in there put mine to shame.

And I'm gonna have to back E on the newer tech coming out for mobile puting - the speeds are gettting there War. I'm serious, there's a SFF with nForce2 mobo on the inside and it easily holds it own with a good agp card.

Times a'changing dudes 8O

Yes but if you compare the price and throw a 9700 into the mix and still come our with a rig that is almost half the price of the laptop, you might as well throw the laptop out the window because the rig will run circles around it in every area.

I will wait another 3 yrs or so, then I think laptops/tablets will be affordable and provide mean power.

Yeah W@RP@T}{ - but it's REALLY hard to take a desktop on the road - and I'm on the road alot. I travel all over the place. Last year I took 2 trips to Atlanta a month apart from each other - end of October for a week and beginning of December for a week. Also went to Florida right after the October trip and was there 4 or 5 days. Besides - Starbucks would frown on you taking a desktop into their establishment and setting up shop!!

I have a laptop that belongs to work but it's a Dell POS and it's slower than molasses in the dead of winter. Can't play ANY games on it - gfx aren't good enough (locks up the machine) and it's so slow I get fragged before I can do anything. Heck - it has trouble handling a browser, email and GAIM open all at the same time!! I wanted a machine that was comparable to my home machine so that not only can I work when I'm on the road (work at my coding that is - not job related stuff, although I do job related stuff too), but I can also play some games to relax. Not only that - but since it's mine no one can b*tch about what I install on it now can they?

And this machine is a kick@$$ machine. I can't believe how fast it is. It's AMAZING!! 8O I have it almost set up and I'm hoping that I'll be able to post here on the forum using it tonight. Just have a few more configs to do on it - modem for one - so I can really use it. So hopefully - I'll get to check you dudes out later on it!!

Wow! I just read the review - BUMMER :(

I had such high hopes for this board too. But it looks like the P4S8X is a much better performer. Well, maybe the Canterberry chipset will be better than the Granite Bay - I guess we'll have to wait and see when it comes out. :?

TOTAL BUMMER! :(
