ok.. I finnaly got a report off to ATI after a bunch of digging on the atitech.com site. I'll see if they reply or not. I'll have to wait for Foolhardy to see what he thinks of my 3Dmark scores.

hey dude, btw Spanky, you're hilarious :D

...just caught up with the thread...didn't get an email telling me there's been more posts...wierd...but whatever.

I have a gf3 OCed to Ti500 levels with a XP 1700+ Tbred OCed to 2400+ levels and I get a terrible score and the benchie doesn't even look that good on my system which runs UT2k3 and Freelancer smooth as a baby's butt. So basically, winXP Pro + gf3Ti500 + XP 2400+ = 1049 3dmarks in the new benchie.

I look jealously at your 4K score!
re: Game test 2 @ 1024 x 768 frames per sec
The [H] reports a 9700 Pro gets...30.2
9800 Pro...35.9
while a high end Geforce FX 5800...29.7

link is here.

Hmm thats weird. If thats the case... Then why do some D3D games look like slideshows???im only getting about 30- 28 FPS in the Vietcong demo.... When peole with half my system are getting 40? It really doesn't seem to be how high the graphics are, but how much is portraid on the sceen. How many FPS are you getting in the "mother nature" part of the 3DMARK 03 test??? i average 8- 13 when looking up at the trees and like 38- 50 when looking down at the water.

I'm stumped. Maybe if i get lucky ATi will reply to my laggish performance in D3D. I tryed the forums at MSI, but some guy keeps telling me and everyone that " You need a bigger Power Supply" for just about every question there. We can be sure that i have a Radeon 9700 pro because i looked up my p/n:

Results On: 1029421901

Product Description BIOS Part Number 102 Part Number
RADEON 9700 128MB VGA DVI-I TVOUT - DELL 11394216102 1029421901

Now the question is: Why does it say dell at the end? lol

Might say Dell at the end because they may have built it as an OEM for Dell.

it could be that that particualr chip used was purchased from DELL.......Much like Asus boards using Intel or VIA chipsets.

Ahhh... Thanks again Compa.. Err toby. :P

So anyone out there know how to OC my video card to speeds that the card should be running???

Another interesting thing: I usually run Opposing force (with the Blue Shift HD addon) in OpenGL mode at 1600*1200 with 6x AA and 8x AF with V sync forced at a flat 60 FPS running 18 of the retarded bots. I put the same settings on for Direct X and set the display in half-life to direct X at 1280*960 (thats as high as it would go) and did the same level with the same amount of bots. The game ran choppier and dropped to about 35 FPS in some places and 99 in others since the V sync wouldn't work. I got LOTS of tearing and chopyness. FYI all the choppyness in D3D games isn't due to tearing. If the game tears bad ( ut 2003 did) i turn on V sync and it usually fixes it with minimal effect on my frame rates.

Sooo close to 100 posts :) I just discovered something interesting. After downloading the DX9 SDK, it was running Dx in debug mode. Don't ask why i downloaded the DX SDK... I just download things for fun sometimes  Remember, this is the same person who uses a AOL cd and a old cd-rom as a coffee cup holder. Anyway, this seemed to fix my problem with the game Soldat. ill have to re-run the 3D mark program and see if i can score better.

Hmmm... Say someone was thinking about buying a new motherboard, and heck, even possibly buying a AMD CPU. What should that person look into 8)

Changing the DX mode helped a bit.... I scored 4235 3DMARKS with vertical syncronization turnd on, but i still think i could do better. the first demo , wings of fury, jumped up to 288 FPS once :) but the other demos still were low, such as the low in mother nature, which was about 5 FPS.... on average when looking up at the trees and such it was 11 FPS. this time all of the tests ran, last time it cut out at the 2nd CPU test. BTW... anyone out there know how to OC a Radeon 9700 pro???
