UT2k3

Hey, I guess I'm a freak.

I had a lot more fun with the NOLF2 demo than the UT2k3 demo. And I'm an original UT multiplayer nut. My gaming buddies say the full game U2k3 is awesome, but I have some doubts. I really didn't care for the weapons in the demo - they just never felt right.

I'd like to hear more opinions on 1st person shooters. My favorite so far is Allied Assault. I thought it was brilliant, and I didn't even mind that it was so linear.

Well I have not played any of those games yet. But on the subject of demos versus full length versions. I have played both the demo version and the full length version of Motocroos Madness 2; needless to say there is a huge difference between the two......

On the Motocross madness game there are considerable differences between the two versions of the game. Such as: On the demo version you only get a choice of two tracks to race on; Not a huge selection of bikes to chose from, etc.....On the full version of the game there are much more choices to choose from (as far as tracks qnd bikes).....The one thing that I have noticed with the full version of the game is that sometime the bike/rider (player 1) shows up normal, other times the bike/rider shows up plain white, and other times the bike is clear and the rider looks like he's riding on a heat vapor (if that makes any sense  .....I don't have the greatest gaming PC (it have an onboard AGP graphics card) so that might be the whole problem................

NOLF2?
I'm not always up on the latest acronyms, but feel free to tell me how the aforementioned acronym was better than UT 2K3. I'd love to know.

BTW, my favorite FPS was probably UT, followed by Strikeforce, and MOHAA.

One thing I've really been waiting for............

When will interactive scenery (walls that can be demolished, etc) be a big factor in a FPS again?

I loved being able to blow up walls and stuff in Duke Nukem, but I haven't really seen big usage of it since then........besides windows, of course.

Am I just looking in the wrong places, or does a FPS exist that takes advantage of this?

My bad dog,
Here's what it is - Monolith's superb shooter No One Lives For Ever 2. Check some reviews out on the 'net, it's great. Cool weapons, slicker than snot gfx, and a great soundtrack. It's based in an Austin Powers kind of spy world, and it has oodles of style. Also the humor in the game is top notch in my book. I know you'll like it zoooot. Grab a demo or two from here.

How could I forget StrikeForce? Whatta game.
I would like to try Hitman 2 sometime.

The walls and buildings being interactive in a violent way were one of the coolest things about Duke 3d. Duke Nukem Forever is supposed to bring that all back, but it's considered vaporware by some. Meaning, it's take FOREVER to come out.

Yes, I've been patiently waiting for interactive walls and buildings to come back.

I think the FPS seems a little hollow without it, which doesn't mean I'm not still obsessed with the games.

I'll check out the NOLF2 as soon as I can :)

Buddy,
It really just sounds like the gfx card/chip you're using doesn't have drivers that can handle newer opengl or directx features. I have the same problem in Mandrake Linux with a ATI rage 128 pro - while the hardware isn't that great, it's really the driver software that let it down.

I remember the first geforce and the drivers that came with it. They were really terrible for some of the newer games at that time, with corruption and glitches everywhere. But Nvidia worked and worked on those detonators until having a card with a chipset from them meant you were on easy street when it comes to gaming. ATI have been dying for that kind of reputation.

Even a older gf2mx card by nvidia can make your gaming a whole lot more fun, just ask Zooooot (I always try and count the dam*ed o's in his handle!).

I liked the Nolf2 Demo much better then the UT2003 too...with a good video card it looks better and pure running around and shooting is IMHO boring after 20 minutes...prefer more the strategy approach...the best game this year was IMHO probably Morrowind because it is so endless complex and still has acceptable graphics...just hate the interface...Dungeon Siege is also worth to try the demo because of the 3D engine...and the interface is great...love mouse only...;)

Zoooot,
Did you end up trying those NOLF2 demos? What did you think?

Totally enthralled with the NOLF2 demo, played it the whole way through.
Atrocious frame rates started to get annoying, though.
