AFAIK no...it would need a driver that supports such a function,
but then the switch would not be a real on/off switch...anyway,
I doubt it...but if there is such function it is sure documented
in the manual..."power on LAN" or so....;)

Custom wire the cable modem's switch to your pc's power button, that way you get both on at once when you boot :D

like tulatin said, if you wanted to disassemble your modem you could probably run a wire through your floor and up through you computer to one of those relay switch things ( im pretty sure thats what im thinking of, you can wire water pumps to your power button so they come on with your computer also ), but then theres the possibility of having to buy a new one when that doesnt work and it wont go back together :D

and then, i think it would shut off with the computer, and youd have to boot to turn the modem on

or, you could just wire a button seperate from your computer

either way should be fun :D

in the end, i think it would be easier to walk to it :(
must....resist...urge...to...hijack..

An easy way: use a composite cable - the middle for + and any gnd point in the modem and case for -. Attach One end of cable end to a wire (+) from the case switch, and the - to the metal circle of the wire 1. Run wire 1 to a composite-conposite (male-male) installed in the back of your case, makingf sure to insulate the conenction point. Then Run cable 2 to the modem. Install another of the same composite-composite, male-male connnector insde the modem, and connect the cable 2 to one end, and cable 3 to the other. Then, run cable 3 to the power button of the modem. Wire the + of the switch to the middle of the cable, - to the outside of the wire. Now, the pc can turn on the modem, and vice versa, and they can both be connected and dis-connected easily. Simple enough mod no?
