...basically nice idea Toby...but I should mention, which you probably can not know, that those providing such lists are pretty unhappy if others use their smilies with image links...that means the image is loaded from their server each time...if somebody here whishes seriously to use a not available emoticon very often, it is possible that I add it to this board...no large, animated ones please...and I'll add just a few...;)

Best post which emoticon (link) ...and the shortcut you wish to use in your postings...and I'll select after a while a few that seem to be without restrictive copyrights...and add them...;) Perhaps we can also do a poll or something...

...I will move this to "about the board" in 1-2 days...fits with my sort of topic change better in there...and thanks for the links Toby...I know...I always seem to mess you sticky postings somehow...sorry :D

Ok Peter the moved has been made. As far as adding new emoticons to the site, I thinks you will find big problems with that. The attempted addition to new emoticons to the phpbb will only crash the site. For more info on this subject you can contact mailto:mobocop@motherboards.org he can provide some helpfull tips as he has tried the new emoticons thing.

I would like to state for the record. http://www.emoticons4u.com allows the use of their images.

http://emoticons4u.com/help_forum.htm

I would like to add that if this emoticons site is to be used on a common basis then members that use this emoticons site to make a donation to them via paypal.

Yeah...Toby...you know...adding smilies is advanced admin wizardry...

Hmmmm...let's see: 0=) Works...;)

True...there are some that allow using their smilies...ask myself how they finance it...they sure need an own server, or even a few...perhaps some sell IPs to add companies...anyway...don't misunderstand me there, it's no board rule not to use those outside smilies, just a recommendation...;)

...something like that...or at least use them not too often..;)..perhaps just mentioned it that when a pissed off webmaster emails me, I can always write back:

"Hey..I'm innocent...explained it to them...but they are evil you know..." 0=) ...

OK - here are the emoticon sites I had saved at work:

http://spider.zaireweb.com/graphics.php -I know Toby already posted this site but this link takes you directly to the smiley menu.
http://raelynn.netfirms.com/animatedemoticons.htm
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/ ... age14.html These are animated gifs you can host on your website - they are free!

As far as I can tell, the two top links allow you to leech images from them. They provide instructions on how to link the images.

That's all I have. 8)

Ummmm...........As long as the emoticons are used in moderation (no pun intended) it should be ok. As long as things dont get out of hand to the point (as Peter stated) that Peter starts getting irate emails from the site owners cause we are stealing bandwidth from them. Lets not forget everytime one of these posts/threads are viewed and has one or more of these "imported" emoticons in it; it sucks up bandwith from their respective site(s).....

So please do not abuse the privilege of the use of emoticons. I am hereby considering this thread to be closed. If you would like to discuss the further please feel free to PM or email me.

your cooperation is appreciated

...if anyone wishes an emoticon to be included, he/she can PM me and suggest it...anyway...I will include a few myself ASAP, so that for most situations one that fits should be available after some time...;)
