:D OOOOOOOO - What a board!!! :D What was it I was saying on motherboards.org about "a girl can dream, can't she?" Well - this is it!! What I've been dreaming of all this time. Hyperthreading AND 8X AGP AND Gigabit LAN!!!!!!!!!!! Wow too Toby!! And it's SOOOOO PRETTY!!

Image

Prettiest board I've seen in a long time - Even prettier than my P4B266  Asus does it again!! 8)

I must say though - I think I'll wait on Doc Overclock's review before I get TOO excited. Image

Edit: I resized the pic - hopefully it doesn't still resize the page 8)
Which reminds me why I want to start working on a beowulf-on-a-backplane design: I want to be the one to write the program called "clusterfsck."

Yeah I am anxious for Doc's, Niso's, or MoboCop's review of the board. Not sure which of the three will have the honors, but I am sure it will prove to be a Kick-*** board

I will try and catch the review on motherboards.org and post the link ASAP.

Yes please - let me know when the review is out. I'm really anxious to see.

Is that pic too big Toby? I can't tell on this machine - I'll have to look at it tomorrow from work.

Very cool!! I am really anxious to see what he thinks about this beautiful Asus board!! :D

Looks like I still have some resizing work to do on that pic. I can't until I get home though because I don't have the software here.

Thats hella nice. I'm excited for the different variations of nforce2 boards aswell. Are Intel setups easier to put together than AMD ones?

No there is really no significant differences between an AMD and an Intel setup.

The key thinkg to remember of AMD setup is:
AMD processors are very "temerature mental", this is due in part from the speed at which tasks are done. (ie. an AMD XP1400+ {1.? GHz} is equal to an Intel P4 1.4GHz processor - in tests)...

I must note that I am not totally sure of the AMD speeds other then what they compare to as far as Intel.

AMD just had another price drop today. I can get a XP 1700+ (1.47GHz) for 60 bucks now. Holy cow. A 1.53 GHz piece is only 9 dollars more than that.

Intel have the biggest numbers in the GHz area tho. A P4 3.06 GHz is around $740. I could build an entirely respectable budget AMD box for that much.

And, lol, I know all too well about the temp thing with AMD. I fried a brand new 1.4 t-bird once *ouch* I am now an expert at installing cpus and HSFs, simly because I'm so scared of screwing it up! About 2 dozen perfect jobs so far!

Well Foo - I think the Intel processors are EASIER to deal with than the AMDs. They're more forgiving, will take a lot more abuse, and don't have the temperature problems like the AMDs. I've put together a lot of systems and that's what I have found in my experience. There are many who would disagree with me though

If Intel could get their prices down to around AMD levels, I'd give them a shot again. Till then, every processor I buy will have to be AMD because of simple cost and the fact I've been really impressed with their performance.

Now, if someone would like to send a p4 2 or 3 GHz for evaluation to me...I maybe swayed :P

I agree with the price thing. I also think the AMDs perform well but they can't compete with the speed of the Intel chips. Intel is ahead of the game there.

Yeah Foo - I'll send one right out 8O
