I noticed that too. I still can't see Olly's latest post (I haven't changed any display options though). The only thing I did in that thread was delete one of my posts - it was a double post and it was really long and two of them were taking up too much space. That's what I was working on when I started having the server problems I brought up in the Mod forum. Maybe all the connectivity trouble I was having caused some data to be corrupted or something.

Maybe Peter can shed some light on things.

Yeah - I changed my view then posted a reply. Now I have at the bottom, page 2 of 1 - very strange indeed!! And now I can't see 90% of the posts there.

I got a hammer you can borrow  It's my BFH - a 20# sledge I keep in my office. It's a visual aid!! :D

Seems I have two possibilities...I wait 24h and optimize mySQL again...does not allow it now...or I try the big hammer, but may have to split it...hmmmm...I'll try the hammer, but first move it away that no one posts into it while I try to fix it...

OK - cool. I noticed you're working on it now.

I still got that hammer for ya though

Not really a geek fix to select every single posting to be split and this way pull them individual from mySQL and avoid the DB error, but it worked...

Cool. Do you know what caused it? I hope the little server problem (or whatever the problem was) yesterday wasn't the culprit. If so - sorry about that. But I had no control over it.

I didn't think so. The only thing I could think of was maybe the data was corrupted during transfer. But I agree - not likely.

OMG!!! A MAN with backups  Guess I should let you in on the joke - Toby is TERRIBLE about backing up stuff and has lost data in a big way before. We had a conversation one day about men having a thing about backups - i.e. never doing them. He said it's a man thing  I have to get on him all the time to back up his code for the site. We lost something recently because nobody backed it up before changing something (I guess I have to share in the blame, but he changed it last :P )

hey thats enough Toby-bashing

I admit I am horrible with doing backups. I am getting a little better though. The biggest goof I did w/o a backup cost me nearly 8GB of data.

I'm not Toby-bashing! :P Am I or am I not always on your case about backups?? Did you or did you not add a comment about backing up the code when we were working on the site last night?? As in "yes, I'll back up the code first" when you mentioned tweaking it? And I didn't even say ANYTHING about backups that time. I guess I'm getting through to you after all :D

I was only razzing you geesh!!! Yes you are getting through to me about the backups....

I found some cool mods for the test page to try out one of these days. I will let you know how it goes.

Well at least you didn't hoze the backup the same way you hozed the original, like I did this summer!

*slaps forehead and walks away in shame*

Heh. There are some lessons every geek has to learn the hard way...
