Sony Cyber-shot

Postby WonderMilkyBitch » Wed Jan 28, 2004 11:44 pm

I got a Sony Cyber-shot P32 for Christmas and it's a pretty decent little camera. It's fairly simple in the poin-and-shoot arena but also allows as much flexibility as a camera in this price range can offer if you're wanting to tweak the apperture, flash modes, etc.

My only problem with it is not actually with the camera itself, but the software to transfer all my files over. Every time I install the software, I can get my pictures and the process is fine, but I've been having to uninstall soon after because it starts crashing my computer.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Are you using drivers from the CD? Have you tried any of the drivers supplied from the website?
What are you hooking up to? OS? Specs? any other intalled peripherals?

Yep, I've completely removed my camera program - tho it's a kodak :-)
The program is intrusive, and does not give me any functionality I could not go without - I use IrfanView. :-)
So I just made a link to the kodakcss proggy which is required to recognise the camera when plugged in, I start it when I want to transfer images from the camera, then kill it because it jams the USB port.
Kodak software: Piece of Shit.
- The camera program did not let me chose install location
- It took over my file assoc. without any question whatsoever,
- No settings to get it back
- Slow, bad user interface, no shortcuts
- USB program makes USB port unavailable for my other USB devices (Memory stick & FF wheel)
- The whole thing hangs/crashes without any visible reason sometimes
...
So I wrote them a mail to please try to do something about it.
What did they answer after 3 weeks? RTFM. so much for the great kodak.
But at least the camera is ok. ;-)
