UT2k3

The real reason why we geeks installed Windows

The thing is, I enjoy team games more than the one player games.

UT2k3 seems to offer a lot more in the "hey, let's play bombing run" category.

I like the rugby overtones of the game, and the team playing aspects. I would love to see some clans play the bombing run game, to see the strategies they use (link guns, shield guns, ability to pass the ball to teammates).

UT2003 is really cool but it is degrading my Quake skills :(

I swear i'm not lying play UT2003 for a couple of hours then Q3 and you'll see what i'm talking about, I lost all my rocket jump skills :( and the fov seems squeezed when your used to FOV_115 in Q3

UT2k3- wait for the mods to come out..

Postby Tilo » Sat Dec 07, 2002 6:38 pm

After all those late night gaming sessions of UT- getting into 2k3 takes some work. The weapons aren't the same as we are used to, some fire differently, and the beloved sniper rifle has been replaced with a lightning gun which you have to charge up to use...

Bombing Run, IMHO, is the best part of 2k3- good way to practice teamwork.

The Troopers mod coming out for 2k3 is the first of what will make spending $40 on UT2k3 all worth it... The engine Unreal Tournament 2k3 is running on has sooo many wonderful possiblities for mods, new games, etc... Keep watching: http://www.ut2003troopers.co.uk/ for screens, the beta, and news on the new mod. I think that I will be spending most of my time with the mods of 2k3...

Oh yeah- FoolHardy and Zoot have finally talked me over to the darkside. :) Hello guys ;-)

Which reminds me why I want to start working on a beowulf-on-a-backplane design: I want to be the one to write the program called "clusterfsck."

Thanks for the great welcome all :) :)

On the topic of UT2k3- who all, besides Zooot and myself, play it online? I can post an IP and pass for the local server if anyone is interested in playing- would be a fun mixer for board members :)

Tilo - I'd LOVE to - but my dialup won't handle online gaming. But I really wish I could - it would be great fun!!

I'd LOVE to have DSL or Satellite. My problem is that I live on a farm WAY OUT in the boonies - there IS no DSL here - or ISDN or ANYTHING!! Hell - we're lucky we have phones!! I could get satellite but it would cost me around $100 per month and I just can't justify it right now. I will be checking into it again after the first of the year. I want to see if I can find a satellite company who will let me get the internet access without buying the tv channels - I don't watch tv (no time) so why should I have 100 channels I don't watch? But even if they would let me buy the equipment and JUST get internet access it will still cost me $70/month plus the cost of the equipment.

But yeah - I'd be happier than a pig in mud if I could have broadband!!

lol...i know how it feels... Living in Michigan on my 56k modem (now 28.8k since the telephone company played around.. Argh!) But wireless is a reality here now... Just waiting for a tower to be put up :)

Update me on some of these terms: IMHO? FOV?

I have only played the original UT once at school in the server room (Wieee!) And right off the bat i feel in love with the Sniper rifle. Having played Counter-Strike for many moons where even if you stand with a AWM you can't hit a mountain... jumping and getting headshots with the sniper rifle was nice for me...then i got a hold of the lightning gun.. Pfft.... So i moved to the Flak Cannon :)
