GeForce 6600GT Multi GPU Card!

Postby cubase » Wed Jan 12, 2005 1:10 pm

Gigabyte have developed the first Nvidia Multi GPU card! The card, whilst having 2X GPU units on the one board is designed to work as a single card SLI solution for Nividia... and it actually works faster than two individual 6600s via an SLI bridge!

Take a look:

This card is densigned to enable users to take advantage of multi GPU technology without the need for an SLI compatible mainboard.

Check out the full review

Once Nvidia gets their drivers worked out for this thing, and more mainboards support it, it will be quite a promising solution. Although, lets hope the price tag on release will not fetch more than 2X 6600GTs.

however, imagine getting two of these babies to run in an SLI configuration (if it could ever happen) .... 4X 6600GTs, or even better: 4X 6800GTs!!!!!

lol, that would be great. Somehow i knew this was gonna happen some day. Tho that does elevate the cost of the dang card.

What's the time frame on these babies, 2nd quarter?

I would assume that they would not deisgn a 6800 equivilant because of the amount of cooling two GPU would require. Which is probably why they are sticking with the 6600GTs forthe time being.

I think these cards are out already. A few memebers at Futuremark have been posting pic of their rigs running this thing...

just to warn you, these things only run on Gigabyte's own board right now- I haven't heard any word if they will be compatible with other mobos.

Asus has apparently something cooking up >> Dual GPU graphics card, the EN6600GT.
The card has two DVI ports and can be apparently used in a SLI configuration making it possible to have a quad 6600GT 8O in your machine. Thx to digital-info.net for the news

That is feaking amazing. Imagine if they manage to dual up two 6800 GPUs on the one board, then people will be swiming in heaven. I think it work out better for the users to keep adding existing card to their setup for cheaper upgrades (much like memory) instead of buing a whole new GPU architecture. When their 4X GPU setups fails them, then they can move onto the next gen cards and build them up, which will hopefully be when their prices come down.

It works!
