Too many groups

The group

Life, The Universe And Everything
General chitchat about everything that comes into your mind

and

Real Discussions
Controversial stuff...no flame wars...keep your emotions out...insult no one and be not too easy insulted

should be merged into one as it is quite ambiguous where to post. The Film, books and music groups can also get incoorporated in the group since they aren't really busy. One big Off Topic group is enough. Just keep the relationship group outside.

Well, as I see it, Life the Universe and Everything is a place for general chitchat (like it says) whereas Real Discussions is more for the controversial discussions and debates. IMO they really need to be kept separate.

The Music, Books, and Movies forums I suppose could be merged. But I think Peter did that so we could keep some order to things once the board gets more popular. It's better to plan for that now than have to do the work involved in moving things around later. When a site gets heavily used, organization is key. We are working very hard to get the word out that we're here so I think they're best left alone.

Just my $0.02.

Thanks for the suggestions Axel...but I will perhaps create later even more groups, people can easier find people with same interests when the board should get too full.

EvLwMn is right...Life, The Universe And Everything is for the friendly side of chitchat...there are those that hate arguments / discussions...these topics are moved to Real Discussions...both are needed...

Books may seem empty...but I just need to place an author there...or movie people into movies...and both would fill...;)

How do you know my name? Who are you?

Not that think that this board is bad but I don't see that the board will crowded in the near future. The board has been around for quite a while now. It is better to have one Off Topic area right now so that the board appears more crowded. If the board becomes more crowded you can easily add more groups at that time. People also get attracted more easily when they notice more activity. Also arguments and "hate" discussions tend to get out of hand and fit more into the Everything group. My 0.02.

Well if it does fill up and the topics need to be split, it'd be a real pain, so segmentation is good for now. The Gaming one was one till I asked for it to be split cos I hate mixing PC games with consoles *shudder*

There's nothing that angers me like endless gamecube reviews and people saying that Metroid prime rulez. Well, other things anger me, but that is annoying.

Agreed, those two don't mix well.

Thanks bud, I've been scouring the threads in order to catch up with lost time. This place really died down. Loved the german car one tho!

If you got to forum like the Amdmb.com one, they have so many regular members they split the mobo forum by brand name. The abit and asus ones are huge, some think it's because they break so much, but it's really just cos they sell the most in the enthusiast market...

I couldn't agree more - Asus boards are big with the enthusiasts for sure.

And congrats on the big 800 Foo!! 8)

Thanks E!

We may have to split the Vid card topic sometime into ATI and Nvidia, or Linux and Windows. Of course, as we grow, catchall topics like "Other Hardware" may need to be split into more specific subtopics like soundcards, gaming hardware, portable computing, and stuff like that.

You're welcome Foo!! 8)

Yes - we may just have to split up some of the forums - later. But that will ultimately be Peter's call.
